Guest Lecture on maternal audit was held by the Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University (FK Undip) recently. This activity is a series of events for the 61st Anniversary of Faculty of Medicine Undip. The Ministry of Health’s website explains that maternal audits are a series of activities to trace the cause of death or maternal pain to prevent similar events in the future.
The theme raised at yesterday’s event was Problem Solving Strategies and Challenges of Preparing Evidence-Based Recommendations in Maternal Audits. Lectures are held hybridly and use dual languages. Participants who took part in the lecture offline were present in the Smart Room of Building B of Faculty of Medicine Undip. Meanwhile, participants are online via Zoom. They come from the Central Java Provincial Health Office, obstetrics gynecology specialists, pediatricians, general practitioners, as well as participants of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) from various regions in Indonesia. The event was opened by dr. Dwi Ngestiningsih M.Kes SpPD K-Ger as the dean’s representative and moderated by dr. Putri Sekar Wiyati Sp.OG Subsp.Obginsos
Speaker Dr dr Ratnasari Dwi Cahyanti Sp.OG SubSp Obginsos who is also the chairman of the committee, explained about how the big challenges and obstacles experienced by health workers in compiling evidence-based recommendations in maternal audits.
The keynote speaker was dr Charles Anawo Ameh PhD MPH FWACS FRSPH FRCOG SFHEA who currently serves as Co-Director of the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Maternal and Newborn Health and Associate Professor of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
“There are new recommendations from WHO that will be published soon regarding the strategy of solving problems in maternal audits,”
“It is hoped that it can help in reducing maternal mortality, especially in Indonesia,” he explained. Yesterday’s event was in great demand by the participants, as evidenced by the number of participants who reached 100 participants both offline and online as well as the enthusiasm of the participants to ask the speakers.
